On Sunday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited the restored museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kaniv.
V.Lytvyn expressed his content that the museum had been restored. "It is important that capital repairs were done. Now it should be filled with life," he stated.
Asked about his impressions from the exhibition, V.Lytvyn stated that one should reflect on the exhibition. "I feel rather confused," the Head of the Parliament stated. He noted that the exhibition was aptly organized, although the visitors should observe it alone.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that commemoration of the Great Kobzar and 150th anniversary of his reburial demonstrate civilized co-existence of Slavic nations. "Reburial of T.Shevchenko was supported by other countries, with which the life of the Great Kobzar was connected," V.Lytvyn stated.
The Head of the Parliament appreciates the great number of young people participating in the festivities. "Prosperity in Ukraine is the best tribute to Shevchenko," he stated. Along these lines, V.Lytvyn stressed that as Ukrainian Mecca, Kaniv should have a proper look. "I suppose that Kaniv will undergo drastic transformations on the occasion of T.Shevchenko´s anniversary," the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated.
As reported, the tour "Final Journey of T.H.Shevchenko" dedicated to the 150th anniversary of reburial of the Great Kobzar is held in Ukraine and the Russian Federation on May 14-23. The events are organized under the patronage of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of CIS member states. The delegation of parliament members of Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan will follow the itinerary of the funeral procession with the body of the Great Kobzar in the year 1861.
